About Malawi Airlines
Malawi Airlines is the Malawian national carrier, set up as a joint venture in which Ethiopian Airlines took 49 per cent under a shareholder agreement signed in Lilongwe on 11 July 2013; the Malawian government and Malawian private investors hold the rest. Ethiopian supplies the management and technical support and counts Lilongwe as one of the hubs in its multi-hub African strategy. The airline later added its first international service, to Johannesburg.
