The business traded as Wromet until 1993, when it was restructured as Amica Holding SA. The name combines "ampere" and "calorie". It was privatised the following year and listed in Warsaw in 1997. It employs nearly 2,500 people and sells about five million appliances a year in close to 70 markets.
