Bera is the listed Icelandic drinks group that Tómas Tómasson started on 17 April 1913 as Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson, brewing in two basement rooms with a 65-litre kettle. It is Iceland's largest producer of both alcohol-free and alcoholic drinks and owns several of the oldest brand names in the country. Shareholders approved the change of name from Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson hf. to Bera hf. on 26 February 2026 and Nasdaq Iceland made the switch on 4 March 2026; Ölgerðin continues as one of the group's operating companies alongside Danól, Collab, Iceland Spring, Kjarnavörur and Gæðabakstur, the last two having joined on 1 December 2025. Revenue for the year to 28 February 2026 was up 7.3 per cent with EBITDA of ISK 5,007 million.
