Cosumar supplies the Moroccan sugar market. It began as COSUMA in 1929, took its present name in 1967, and in 2005 bought the state sugar companies SUTA, SURAC, SUNABEL and SUCRAFOR. It runs seven sugar mills processing beet and cane from more than 80,000 contract farmers and two refineries for imported raw sugar, at Casablanca and at Sidi Bennour, where refining began in 2024. Moroccan institutional investors hold most of its capital, led by MAMDA/MCMA with 19.97 per cent, and consolidated revenue in 2025 was 10.5 billion dirhams.
