SABECO is Vietnam's largest beer producer, formed on 1 June 1977 when the Southern Beer and Alcohol Company took over the operations of BGI, the French colonial brewer whose Saigon business began with an ice workshop in 1875 and a brewery licensed in 1909. It runs 26 breweries with a capacity of 2.45 billion litres a year, reaches more than 200,000 points of sale across every province and exports to over 40 countries. Net revenue was VND 25,888 billion in 2025 and profit after tax VND 4,573 billion. Thailand's ThaiBev took majority control in 2017; the Vietnamese state, through SCIC, still holds 36 per cent.
