Perrigo acquires Prevacid 24HR (2019)
Perrigo completed the acquisition of Prevacid 24HR on 29 November 2019 for $61.5 million, buying from GSK.[1]
Perrigo bought the branded over-the-counter rights to Prevacid 24HR from GlaxoSmithKline for $61.5 million in cash, capitalising $61.7 million including closing costs as a brand intangible and amortising it over twenty years. What changed hands was the right to sell the brand over the counter rather than the underlying drug, which is how most of Perrigo's branded portfolio has been assembled.
