Embed "who owns this brand" on your site
Show a brand's controlling owner, with a link to its sources, on your own page or blog post. It is free and needs no key. The answer comes from the same ownership records and filings as the rest of Brandtree.
The widget
Add the script once, then place the element wherever you want the answer. The text inside the element shows until the answer loads, and stays if it cannot.
<script src="https://brandtree.org/embed.js" async></script>
<brandtree-owner brand="dove">
<a href="https://brandtree.org/brand/dove">Who owns Dove?</a>
</brandtree-owner> The brand value is the last part of the brand's page address: brandtree.org/brand/dove is dove.
The JSON endpoint
GET https://brandtree.org/api/owner?brand=dove
{
"brand": "dove",
"name": "Dove",
"owner": { "id": "unilever", "name": "Unilever", "url": "https://brandtree.org/company/unilever" },
"owned_since": "1957",
"url": "https://brandtree.org/brand/dove",
"as_of": "…",
"source": "Brandtree (brandtree.org)"
} It answers any origin (CORS is open), caches for an hour, and returns 404 for a brand we do not record. Brands held under licence or by a minority stake are not returned, because no one company owns them.
All the data
For bulk use, the whole dataset is downloadable as CSV and JSON on the data page, and one lookup file with every brand and owner is at /data/v1/owners.json. Please link back to Brandtree where you use it, and see the methodology for how ownership is decided.
