It began as a branch of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in East Pakistan in 1968, was incorporated on 24 January 1973 as ICI Bangladesh Manufacturers Limited, and took its present name after ICI sold its stake to local management on 5 May 1992. Its Consumer Brands division makes toiletries, home care, hygiene, food staples and edible oil products sold through subsidiaries including ACI Formulations, ACI Foods, ACI Pure Flour and ACI Salt.
