Air Astana is the largest airline group in Central Asia and the Caucasus, flying 132 domestic and international routes across 22 countries with 62 aircraft at the end of 2025. It was established as a joint venture between the Government of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems and flew its first commercial service, Almaty to Astana, in May 2002. The group completed an initial public offering on 15 February 2024, listing simultaneously on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, the Astana International Exchange and the London Stock Exchange; the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna kept 41 per cent, and BAE Systems announced in March 2026 that it had disposed of its remaining holding and left the share register. Revenue rose 11.4 per cent to USD 1,453.9 million in 2025 on nearly 10 million passengers.
