Its history begins in 1988, when the Añaños Jeri family started producing drinks in Ayacucho, in the Peruvian Andes, giving rise to the Kola Real brand. It is still run by the family, several of whom sit on its board, and it now has commercial operations in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Honduras, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Nigeria, Cameroon, Réunion, Madagascar, Spain, Egypt, India, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. Its portfolio spans more than eight categories — carbonated soft drinks, juices, waters, teas, isotonic and energy drinks — sold through its own plants, distribution centres and a franchise network, and none of it is bottled under licence from another brand owner.
