It was incorporated in 1956 as Anderson Clayton & Company, bought by Grupo Romero in 1971 and renamed Alicorp in 1997 after mergers that brought in La Fabril and the pasta maker Nicolini Hermanos. It makes edible oils, pasta, flour, biscuits, laundry soap and detergents, sauces, personal and home care products and animal feed, and Grupo Romero companies are its largest shareholders. In 2024 it sold its milling business in Bolivia and Uruguay, bought Refinería del Espino, and stopped making Sayón chocolates and sweets, licensing that name to Arcor.
