Bowen & Bowen is Belize's largest privately held consumer goods group, founded in Belize City in 1932 by Eric W. M. Bowen and his brother Fredrick as a general trading company. It introduced carbonated flavoured drinks under the Crystal name in 1944, acquired the right to bottle Coca-Cola in Belize in 1961 and built the Ladyville plant in 1965, and established Belize Brewing Company in 1969 in partnership with Cerveceria Hondureña, whose shares Barry Bowen bought out in 1981. The group now spans brewing, soft drinks, imports and distribution, aquaculture, agro-industry, power generation, security, restaurants and retail. Its Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Powerade, Minute Maid and Fuze volumes are produced under franchise from The Coca-Cola Company, and Guinness Foreign Extra Stout has been brewed under licence since 1989: none of those names belongs to Bowen.
