Its business began in 1990, when PT Tudung Putrajaya started selling in-shell peanuts under the Garuda name in Pati, Central Java, and the company itself was established in 1994. It sells biscuits, peanuts, cheese, milk drinks, jelly drinks and cup tea under seven main brands through its distribution subsidiary Sinarniaga Sejahtera, and exports mainly to Southeast Asia and China. Its shares have been listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since October 2018, and Hormel Foods, with 30.17 per cent, is its largest shareholder.
