Kikkoman is a Japanese soy sauce maker formed in 1917, when eight brewing families in Noda and Nagareyama merged to create Noda Shoyu Co., the predecessor of today's company. It began marketing in the United States through a San Francisco sales company in 1957 and shipped its first American-made soy sauce from Walworth, Wisconsin in 1973. Its soy sauce is now used in more than 100 countries, and it says North American sales far exceed those in Japan. The group also holds the Del Monte processed food rights for much of Asia, the JFC Asian food wholesale business, soymilk and Manns Wine.
