Sleep Country Canada is a specialty sleep retailer with a national store network and several e-commerce platforms, founded in Vancouver in 1994. Fairfax Financial Holdings acquired all of its shares on 1 October 2024 for C$1.2 billion and holds 100 per cent; the listed holding company was amalgamated with its operating subsidiary on 1 January 2025 under the name Sleep Country Canada Inc. Fairfax reports that it had record revenues of C$1.2 billion in 2025 including Simba, the British mattress business it bought. On 31 July 2026 a wholly owned subsidiary, SNBR, Inc., bought substantially all of the assets of Sleep Number Corporation out of Chapter 11 in the United States.
Sleep Number Corporation and its subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 in the Southern District of New York on 12 June 2026. On 18 July it signed an amended asset purchase agreement with SNBR, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sleep Country Canada Inc., for substantially all of its assets; the court approved the sale on 21 July and it closed on 31 July 2026. Cash proceeds were $529.5 million, of which about $267.4 million repaid the debtor-in-possession loans. Sleep Number said it expected nothing to be left for its stockholders and that its shares would be cancelled under a plan of liquidation.
