Zad Holding was incorporated in Doha on 7 July 1969 by Emiri Decree as the company that built Qatar's only flour mill, and traded as Qatar Flour Mills before taking its present name. It still imports the country's wheat and mills its flour, and has added edible oils, bakery, frozen meat, ice cream and catering alongside contracting, asphalt, logistics, ready-mix concrete and property. It sells flour in the local market at subsidised rates agreed with the Government of Qatar, which compensated it 97.1 million riyals in 2025, 7.7 per cent of total revenue.
