About Wizz Air
Wizz Air is the ultra-low-cost airline founded in Hungary in 2003, and Wizz Air Hungary was the first carrier to be issued an air operator certificate by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency rather than by a national regulator. It flies a single family of Airbus narrowbodies from close to 40 bases, and in the year to March 2026 it pulled capacity back into central and eastern Europe, adding aircraft at Skopje, Sofia, Varna, Warsaw, Katowice, Gdansk, Tirana, Bucharest and Chisinau while closing its Abu Dhabi base and winding down Vienna.
