Farmec is the largest cosmetics manufacturer in Romania with entirely Romanian share capital, based in Cluj-Napoca. Its own history begins with the Molnar Moser laboratories in Budapest in 1889 and dates the Romanian business to 1943, when that network opened the Mol-Mos laboratory in Cluj; the laboratory was nationalised in 1949 as Cosmetics Factory No. 21, renamed Farmec in 1972, and fully privatised in 1995 by the MEBO method. It launches or modernises about a hundred products a year against a production capacity of 27 million units, and groups them under Gerovital, Aslavital, Doina, Farmec, Triumf and Nufăr.
