Wawel is a Kraków confectionery maker that dates its history to the shop the confectioner Adam Piasecki bought on Długa Street in 1898. The state enterprise Zakłady Przemysłu Cukierniczego Wawel was formed in January 1951, became a joint-stock company on privatisation in 1992 and debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on 11 March 1998. It moved its three Kraków plants to a single factory at Dobczyce from 2006. Chocolate products made 72.2 per cent of its 739.4 million złoty of revenue in 2025. Hosta International AG of Bottmingen, Switzerland, wholly owned by Laura Opferkuch, holds 52.14 per cent of the votes.
