About Davidoff
Davidoff cigars were created in Cuba in 1968 by Zino Davidoff, marked by an oval white cigar ring, and the brand passed into the Oettinger Group when it acquired Zino's Geneva shop in 1970. After Davidoff's relationship with Cuba's state tobacco company broke down, all Davidoff cigar production moved to Villa González in the Dominican Republic in 1991, where it remains, making Oettinger Davidoff AG the world's largest producer of handmade premium cigars, sold worldwide including the United States. Oettinger Davidoff does not own every product that carries the Davidoff name: Tchibo makes Davidoff-branded coffee under licence, and Coty makes Davidoff-branded fragrances under licence, each an entirely separate business from the cigars.
