About Hanson
Hanson is the trading name Heidelberg Materials still uses in the United Kingdom for its packaged and bagged cement, mortar and aggregate products, made by subsidiaries such as Hanson Packed Products Limited and Hanson Quarry Products Europe Limited, both of which file their own statutory annual reports on Heidelberg Materials UK's own site. The name reached the group when HeidelbergCement acquired the London-listed building-materials conglomerate Hanson plc in a scheme that became effective in August 2007, then the largest deal in the sector's history, adding UK aggregates, ready-mixed concrete and asphalt operations to HeidelbergCement's existing cement plants. Hanson UK itself, the operating company that had carried the Hanson name for the whole UK business, officially changed its name to Heidelberg Materials on 2 October 2023, so Hanson today survives as a product-facing brand on bagged cement rather than as the name of the UK group.
