About Taifa Leo

Taifa Leo is a Kiswahili-language newspaper published in Kenya by Nation Media Group. It is where the group began: the Aga Khan's East African Newspapers (Nation Series) acquired the weekly in 1959, and NMG's own history says Taifa reached newsstands on 28 April 1959 and that a daily edition, launched in January 1960, was East Africa's first Kiswahili daily. NMG now uses it for Kiswahili education products such as Elimu Msingi and Lugha na Fasihi, and for health pull-outs.
