Its business began on 11 February 1922, when Glico Caramel went on sale at the Mitsukoshi department store in Osaka, and the company was incorporated in February 1929. It reported consolidated sales of 361.3 billion yen in 2025 across health foods, dairy, nutritional confectionery, food ingredients and overseas operations at 19 bases. Glico is listed in Tokyo, bought the American chocolate maker TCHO in 2018, and in March 2026 raised its holdings in three Swiss chocolate companies to 19.89 per cent.
