About Showmax
Showmax was MultiChoice's African streaming service, built out under a partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal that left NBCUniversal holding 30 per cent of Showmax Africa Holdings Limited. Canal+ announced on 5 March 2026 that it would discontinue the service after a strategic review of its streaming activities, citing significant recurring losses, and Showmax stopped operating at the end of April 2026 with its content moved onto DStv Stream.
