About Thaï Express
Thaï Express is a Canadian chain of Thai restaurants, serving freshly cooked dishes from what it calls traditional Thai recipes. It is one of the earliest brands MTY Food Group bought rather than created: the group acquired it in May 2004, when it had just six franchised locations, and built it into one of the banners it leads with on its own brand list. MTY classes it as fast casual, alongside Sushi Shop and Mucho Burrito.

MTY Food Group is a Montreal franchisor of quick-service, fast-casual and casual dining restaurants, with 7,040 locations at 31 May 2026 under more than eighty banners, almost all of them run by franchisees. Cold Stone Creamery and Papa Murphy's are the only two banners that each account for more than a tenth of sales across its network.
