Nigerian Breweries is the oldest and largest brewer in Nigeria, incorporated in Lagos on 16 November 1946 as Nigerian Brewery Limited and quoted on the exchange now called NGX since 1973. Heineken N.V. held roughly 72.9 per cent of its shares at the end of 2025, and that matters for reading its shelf: it brews Heineken, Amstel Malta, Desperados, Tiger and Fayrouz in Nigeria under names its parent owns, not its own. Having bought Distell Wines and Spirits Nigeria outright in March 2025 it now also imports and sells Amarula, Nederburg, Drostdy-Hof, 4th Street, Bain's, Chamdor, Hunter's and Savanna, all Heineken group brands.
