About Calavo

Calavo was founded in 1924 to market California avocados and is the name on fresh avocados, tomatoes and Hawaiian-grown papayas, and on guacamole made in a single plant in Michoacán, Mexico, using high-pressure cold pasteurisation instead of preservatives. It owns no farms and buys from independent growers. Calavo sold its fresh-cut fruit and vegetable business in August 2024, and was itself bought by Mission Produce on 28 May 2026, when its shares left Nasdaq.
