About Carte Noire
Carte Noire is a French coffee brand launched in 1978 and long marketed with deliberately sensual advertising. Lavazza acquired it in 2016 from the divestitures required when Jacobs Douwe Egberts was formed. Competition authorities demanded the sale because the merged company would otherwise have held too large a share of the French ground coffee market.
