Barcaffè began in 1970 at the old Droga factory in Portorož, Slovenia, and its first product, a 100-gram bag of ground Turkish coffee, is still its best known. Atlantic calls it the most popular coffee brand in Slovenia, where it defended its lead in 2025, its 55th year. The range runs to more than 40 products, and Barcaffè Espresso has grown for five years across the Adria region, where the brand also organises a regional barista cup.
