About Magic
Magic is the ice cream brand that grew out of the dairy business Cargills began building in 2002, when it took advice from Verghese Kurien, the architect of India's White Revolution, on how to organise smallholder milk collection. The company pioneered the use of locally grown fresh fruit in ice cream, and says its ice cream products now hold over 40 per cent of the Sri Lankan market. The national market itself grew from 12 million litres in 2002 to nearly 90 million litres a year. Value-added confectionery products were consolidated under the same name in the year to March 2026.
