Natural American Spirit is sold outside the United States, its US duty-free locations, US territories and US military outlets by JT Group, which bought the international rights to the brand name and trademarks, plus the international companies distributing it, from Reynolds American for approximately $5.0 billion in a deal completed 13 January 2016. Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company, a Reynolds American and now British American Tobacco subsidiary, kept the US rights, so the brand is split by market between JT and BAT.
