About Patros
Patros is Hochland's range of Mediterranean-style cheeses made from cow's, sheep's and goat's milk, which the company says is also sold in organic varieties and as a plant-based alternative to shepherd's cheese. It describes the taste as mild and spicy. Patros and Almette have been made at the Schongau plant in Bavaria since 1997, when Hochland built a cheese factory there for white cheese and cream cheese.

It became a joint-stock company (AG) in 1999 but stayed with the three founding families (Reich, Summer and Fuchs), and changed from an AG to an SE in 2010. It sells processed, cream, hard and plant-based cheeses, mainly in Germany, Romania, Poland, Russia and Spain, and also owns the Natec cheese-machinery business.
