About Aqua Optima
Aqua Optima is the water filtration brand Strix developed rather than bought: the brand's own company history says Strix, having made its name in kettle controls, turned to purifying tap water in 2000 with the aims of removing impurities, improving taste and cutting the sediment that builds limescale in kettles. The range now runs from filter jugs and dispensers to instant hot and chilled water appliances, built around the Evolve+ cartridge, which Strix says filters three times faster than the leading rival brand.

About the owner: Strix
Strix is a publicly listed company headquartered in Ronaldsway, Isle of Man, founded in 1951. Brandtree records 2 brands under its control, and it is listed as AIM: KETL.
Strix makes the safety controls inside electric kettles and says its products are used around 1.2 billion times a day in more than 100 countries, which gives it roughly half the global kettle controls market by value. The business began on the Isle of Man in 1951 as Castletown Thermostats, founded by Eric Taylor to control heated flying suits, took the Strix name in 1982 under his son John Taylor, and joined AIM in 2017. It now reports two divisions: Controls, which sells to appliance manufacturers and retailers, and Consumer Goods, which sells water filtration and small appliances under LAICA and Aqua Optima alongside private label work for other brands. Its third division went in January 2026, when Strix sold the premium filtered-water systems business Billi to Crescent Capital Partners at an enterprise value of £110 million and used the net proceeds of £102.0 million to repay its bank facilities in full. It also moved its financial year end to 31 March, so its latest accounts cover a 15-month period.
