About Checkers
Checkers is the group's supermarket for fresh and premium food, acquired in 1991 and since turned into the brand that draws more affluent customers without giving up value: 310 stores in South Africa plus eleven elsewhere in the region. Its FreshX format, introduced in 2016, rebuilt the stores around fresh departments, and it hosts concessions from partners including Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, Lindt and Kauai inside selected supermarkets.
