About The Gulf Hotel Bahrain

The Gulf Hotel was Bahrain's first five-star hotel when it opened in Adliya in 1969, and it remains one of the largest in the country with 361 rooms and suites, a three-storey spa and health club and the restaurant collection the group is now franchising outwards. It has joined Marriott Bonvoy and the Autograph Collection, but the group is explicit that the hotel stays under its own full management and keeps its own name, so the brand is not Marriott's.

About the owner: Gulf Hotels Group

Gulf Hotels Group is a publicly listed company headquartered in Manama, Bahrain, founded in 1967. Brandtree records 23 brands under its control, and it is listed as Bahrain Bourse: GHG.

Gulf Hotels Group is Bahrain's largest hotel owner-operator, incorporated in 1967 as Bahrain Hotels Company and renamed in 1969, the year it opened the Gulf Hotel — the country's first five-star hotel. It runs eight properties with about 1,200 keys, roughly twenty restaurants and twelve cafés and lounges, and reported net profit up 44 per cent in 2025 on a net margin of 23 per cent. Unusually for a hotel company its restaurant brands travel on their own: Takht Jamsheed and China Garden are being franchised and opened away from the hotels, in Bahrain malls, at Time Out Market Bahrain and in Saudi Arabia.
