Hinge is owned by Match Group (the United States, NASDAQ: MTCH), which acquired the brand on 1 February 2019.[1][2] Hinge was founded in 2012 in New York, New York and was independent until 2019.
Hinge relaunched in 2016 around prompts and photographs rather than swiping, marketing itself as the app designed to be deleted. Match Group took full ownership in 2019, and it has grown faster than any other brand in the group since.
