IGN is owned by Ziff Davis (the United States, NASDAQ: ZD), which acquired the brand on 4 February 2013.[1][2] IGN was founded in 1996 in the United States and was independent until 2013.
IGN is among the largest video game review sites in the world, and its scores carry enough weight to be quoted in publishers' marketing. Ziff Davis has owned it since 2013 through its Humble Bundle and gaming group. It began as a network of separate console-specific sites before consolidating under one name, and it now also runs events and a video production business.
Ziff Davis, then owned by j2 Global, acquired IGN from News Corp. IGN had been assembled from a network of console-specific sites in the 1990s, and its review scores carry enough weight to be quoted in publishers marketing. The price was not disclosed.
