About Interscope Records
Interscope was founded in 1990 and became central to hip-hop through its distribution of Death Row Records, which drew congressional criticism in the 1990s. Its co-founder Jimmy Iovine later built Beats and sold it to Apple. It now releases much of the most commercially successful hip-hop and pop in America, and its founder's Beats headphone business sold to Apple for $3 billion in 2014.
