About Jawa
Jawa is a Czech motorcycle marque founded in Prague in 1929 by František Janeček, who named it by running together the first letters of his own surname and that of Wanderer, the German maker whose motorcycle division he bought. Its machines were assembled in India by Ideal Jawa of Mysore from the early 1960s and kept a cult following there long after production stopped. Classic Legends does not own the name: it signed an exclusive brand licence covering India and selected Asian markets in 2016.
