About Melbourne Pathology
Melbourne Pathology is a Victorian pathology practice that calls itself the oldest established private practice of its kind in Australia, with laboratories in Collingwood, Richmond, Box Hill, Geelong and elsewhere and more than 320 collection centres. It traces itself to Dr Douglas John Thomas, who ran Bethesda Hospital's laboratory from 1923, and has used its current name since 1988. SGS bought control in 1996, and Sonic Healthcare bought out SGS and the remaining partners in 1999.
