About SWISS
SWISS was built from the remains of Swissair, which collapsed in 2001 in a failure that shook national confidence in Switzerland. Lufthansa acquired it in 2005, and it retains a distinct identity and premium positioning. Lufthansa owns it, and the airline kept the Swiss cross on its tail, which required specific permission from the Swiss government to use commercially.
