Tartare is a whipped fresh cheese flavoured with herbs, first made in the Dordogne in 1964 with its garlic and fine herbs recipe. Savencia makes it from French milk at cheese plants in the Dordogne and Charente and says it is the best-selling flavoured fresh cheese in France.
