About Yerba Mate Colón
Colón is the yerba mate brand of Colonias Unidas, drawn from member growers in Itapúa, a department whose town of Bella Vista calls itself the national capital of yerba mate. The co-operative took in 8,276 tonnes of canchada — coarse dried leaf — in the 2025 season, down on the year before because yields in the yerbales fell, and mills it into finished ground yerba at its own plant. It runs a technical assistance programme for yerba growers covering fertilisation, harvesting under the mature-branch system and rejuvenation pruning, and its 2025 annual report carries a page of new Colón products launched that year.
