About Zig-Zag (rolling papers)
Zig-Zag papers were begun in 1879 by the brothers Maurice and Jacques Braunstein, who built a mill west of Paris; the interleaving process that makes papers dispense one at a time was patented in 1894 and gave the brand its name in 1906. Turning Point Brands has held the North American distribution rights since 1997, buys every paper, tube and injector from Republic Technology International, and sells about a third of all rolling papers in the United States.
