About BMW Motorrad
BMW has built motorcycles since 1923, and its boxer engine layout, with cylinders projecting either side, has been used almost continuously since then. Its GS adventure bikes largely created the category of large touring machines built for rough roads. Its bikes were used by police forces and armies across Europe for decades, and the marque returned to competitive off-road racing in the 1980s to establish the GS line.
