About the owner: Melitta
Melitta is a privately held company headquartered in Minden, Germany, founded in 1908. Brandtree records 8 brands under its control.
Melitta Group describes itself as an internationally active, family-owned group of companies that traces its existence to Melitta Bentz and her invention of the coffee filter in 1908. Its annual report divides it into coffee, coffee preparation (filters, coffee machines, kettles) and household products (food wrap, freezer and waste bags, vacuum-cleaner filter bags), plus industrial papers and packaging. The household-products brands in the film and foil business are run by its Cofresco division in Minden; Cofresco also holds Albal, BacoFoil, handy bag, Swirl and Wrapmaster, which are not listed here because the report does not say where those brands began. Granini juice was once a Melitta brand: Melitta sold it to Eckes in 1994 and held 26 per cent of the juice business until 2006.
