About Royal Copenhagen
Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 and is the Scandinavian leader in hand-painted porcelain, known everywhere for blue on white. Its Blue Fluted Plain pattern, also called Pattern No. 1, has been in uninterrupted production since the company began, and a single dinner plate takes 762 individual brush strokes. Fiskars agreed in December 2012 to buy it from Royal Scandinavia, controlled by the Danish private equity group Axcel, for DKK 490 million, and completed the purchase in 2013.
