Van de Kamp's began in 1915 as a Los Angeles potato chip stand run by Theodore J. Van de Kamp, his sisters and Lawrence L. Frank. It grew into baked goods and, by the mid-1950s, a restaurant chain known for batter-fried halibut, before turning to frozen foods. High Liner Foods bought the frozen seafood brand from Conagra Brands on 30 June 2025.
