About Battin
Battin was founded in Esch-sur-Alzette in 1937 by Charles Battin, a spirits merchant moving into beer, and it was the smallest and youngest of Luxembourg's breweries. Its reputation was made by master brewer Kurt Mocker, trained in Pilsen. The family ran it for three generations — Charles's son-in-law Nicolas Origer from 1954, then Origer's sons Marc and Paul — until they approached retirement and sold it to Brasserie Nationale in 2004, which moved production to Bascharage. The range still carries the Gambrinus, Extra, Brune, Triple, Blanche and Fruitée names.
