About JBL
JBL turned eighty in 2026, and marked it by unveiling two new flagship loudspeakers at High End Vienna. Only five loudspeaker families in its history have carried the Project designation — Hartsfield, Paragon, Everest, K2 and, from 2026, Summit — a label used since 1954 and reserved for the brand's most exacting acoustic engineering. Those reference models are developed at JBL's Acoustic Center of Excellence in Northridge, California, while the wider brand covers portable speakers, headphones and gaming headsets sold in far larger numbers.
